SKF reveals: Load sensing bearings with fiber optic sensors designed to speed up product development. Designers can accelerate the design cycle by analysing bearing loads quickly and accurately thanks to the addition of fiber optic based SKF’s Load Sensing Bearings – for pumps and compressors. Orbital chooses SKF technology for world’s ...
Hard-wearing and low-maintenance sealed bearing units and a new distributor program will be unveiled by SKF at this year's Agritechnica 2019.11.05 A smooth ride in rough conditions with SKF’s new fork seal
Track rollers - SKF
SKF supplies track rollers greased, sealed and ready-to-mount. They are available in many different types and designs and for a wide variety of operating conditions and applications. The assortment includes: cam rollers (yoke-type track rollers based on ball bearings, fig. 1, fig. 2)
SKF Mechanical tools for mounting or fitting bearings
Self aligning ball bearings Method: Adjustment of double row, self-aligning ball bearings is more difficult to achieve than spherical roller bearings because the feeler gauge method cannot be used. A very effective method to mount this type of bearing correctly is to use the SKF TMHN 7 lock nut spanner set.
Bearing selection examples | SKF
Bearing selection examples This section contains several worked examples that show the bearing selection process applied to various machines and application cases. Each example is presented as a number of steps that generally follows the sequence in the bearing selection process.
Designation system | SKF
The designations of most SKF rolling bearings follow a system that may consist of a basic designation with or without one or more prefixes and/or suffixes (Basic bearing designation system). An example and the applicable options for SKF deep groove ball bearings are given below.

Bearing basics - SKF
Thrust bearings accommodate loads that act predominantly along the axis of the shaft. Depending on their design, thrust bearings may support pure axial loads in one or both directions , and some can additionally accommodate radial loads (combined loads, fig. 6). Thrust bearings cannot accommodate speeds as high as same-sized radial bearings.
Bearing friction, power loss and starting torque
The starting torque of a rolling bearing is defined as the frictional moment that must be overcome by the bearing to start rotating, at an ambient temperature of 20 to 30 °C (70 to 85 °F). Therefore, only the sliding frictional moment and the frictional moment of seals, if applied, are taken into consideration.
SKF vs. NTN - fully sealed bearings - Weight Weenies
SKF bearings are expensive and of decent quality but there is a huge problem in the UK (and Europe) with fakes. I'd say 60-70% of all ebay "SKF" bearings are fake and there are a number of bearing distributors in the UK (and probably the world) that are selling fakes - it's not clear if they are doing it willingly or not. If you put the real SKF bearing next to the fake SKF bearing the ...
